My friends and family can vouch that I’ve been a certified “AvGeek” for as long as I can possibly remember. It’s not too uncommon for me to be more excited about going to the airport than the actual vacation itself. Spotting a 747-8 on the runway or sipping a margarita on the beaches of Cabo? It’s pretty obvious to me. Margs don’t have four engines.

Over the last few years, I’ve really taken a headfirst dive into the credit card & points games; the idea of flying the world’s best carriers in luxury has always enticed me, especially now as I’ve come to realize how accessible it can be with the proper understanding. Call me crazy, but a transatlantic flight in a lie-flat seat sounds a tad more pleasant than spending 10 hours cramped up in economy!

This particular flight will always have a special place in my heart as my first big-boy points redemption. And what better way to redeem my points stash than for a flight on a Dreamliner with one of the world’s most esteemed airlines?

As a member of Star Alliance, booking an award flight on Turkish Airlines can be done through any Star Alliance airline’s frequent flyer program.

My name is Richard and I am not that happy because I haven’t gotten spanked in quite some time and that just bothers me to no end.

Upon arriving to the terminal, I was greeted with a chub smack like never before
